Global-5 Communications CEO Mary Hamill Wins 2017 Clarion Award

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 7, 2017) - Global-5 Communications CEO Mary Hamill was recently named a 2017 Clarion Award winner in Marketing Communications for the company’s successful Florida 511 Traveler Information System marketing campaign. The Association for Women in Communications (AWC) presents the Clarion Awards annually.


Global-5 has marketed the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Florida 511 Traveler Information System for more than 10 years. Florida 511 is a public service providing free, real-time traffic and travel information throughout the state. Through Global-5’s outreach efforts, Florida 511 reached two billion impressions in 2016. Of those, 99.97 percent came through a strategic combination of owned, shared and earned media; and public service announcements. Only 0.03 percent was from paid media.

Mary founded Global-5 Communications, the nation’s premier transportation communications firm, in 1996. Under Mary’s direction, Global-5 leads the marketing and public relations efforts for the I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project, the Florida 511 Traveler Information System, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment Program and other projects. The contest, conducted by the AASHTO Subcommittee on Transportation Communication, is the premier communications competition in the transportation industry, and the awards have become a standard of excellence among state departments of transportation. According to the AASHTO Subcommittee on Transportation Communication’s website (, the Transcomm Skills Award winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning, production, execution, and evaluation of results and budget.




ORLANDO, Fla. (Sept. 10, 2014) — Surpassing the largest number of nationwide submissions ever received, Global-5 Communications’ statewide marketing campaign for the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) 511 Traveler Information System received the Best of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Award for Best New Innovative Practice in Outreach. Winners were announced on Sept. 9, 2014, at the international ITS World Congress in Detroit.

The PSTA Cares Commercial Campaign Wins its Third Award

Orlando, Fla., May 1, 2014 — Global-5 Communications’ PSTA Cares commercial campaign was recently recognized by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts for its creative excellence in producing three Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) television commercials. The commercials, which help promote the safety and security benefits that PSTA offers, were honored with a Silver Award of Distinction in the 20th Annual Communicator Awards.

ORLANDO (June 18, 2013) — Global-5 Communications received the prestigious Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The Silver Anvil, which recognizes outstanding achievement in strategic public relations planning and implementation, was presented during the Silver Anvil Awards Ceremony held June 13 in New York City.


Global-5 Communications received the 2013 Silver Anvil Award in the marketing consumer services category for its work with the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) 511 Traveler Information System. FDOT’s 511 provides real-time traffic reports on the state’s busiest roadways through a phone system, a website, Twitter feeds and an iPhone mobile application. Global-5 created and implemented a grassroots partnership marketing and media campaign that reached millions, pushed call volumes past the eight million mark and increased awareness by 21 percent.
